Ways to get to the Island

Most visitors to Flat Holm arrive via the commercial boat operators listed below. However for the more adventurous travelers out there it is possible to get to the Island under your own steam. Kayakers are regular visitors to the island as are private boats and other small vessels, but please check the tide times carefully.

Trips to the island are also organised by The Flat Holm Society (http://flatholmsociety.org.uk/) who raise funds and help maintain the island through volunteering.

Free guided tours are offered to all visitors and our gift shop and pub (the most southerly in Wales!) are also open. For more information about longer stays on the Island please telephone: 029 2087 7912 or email: flatholmproject@cardiff.gov.uk

Please be aware that there is a landing fee upon arrival:

Adults £5, Children (under 18) £2.50

    • Hi Julie,
Bay Island Voyages and Cardiff Sea Safari’s will be running trips over the summer period (March – October). The dates are available on each of their websites.

      Warm regards

The ferry operator from Weston super Mare you have listed here does no longer operate. Any alternative suggestions? Nick

    • Hi Nick, you can either travel over to the island with Cardiff Sea Safari’s or Bay Island Voyages. Both are RIB companies that operate from Cardiff Bay. I hope that this helps you. Mat

Great. Presumably they have services from WsM? I don’t want to drive all the way to Cardiff if I can just pop up the road to Weston!

      • Hi Nick,

I’m afraid that they don’t currently run a regular service from WSM. You may be able to charter a boat though if you speak with them?

        Cheers
        Mat
